Always Home Announces New Interim Executive Director

Always Home is pleased to announce the appointment of Interim Executive Director, Betty Smith. Smith replaces Jeff Anderson who served as the organization’s Executive Director for the past 3 years.

“Always Home is a non-profit that has had an out-sized, positive impact in our community and is poised for tremendous future growth”, shares Smith. “Under Jeff’s leadership, Always Home made great headway with a successful re-branding campaign and effectively and efficiently responding to an increase in the number of families seeking our services. I am honored and excited to lead Always Home at this time. I believe the work that Always Home does matters greatly – to Mystic, to Eastern Connecticut and, most importantly, to the over 200 families we help annually.”

Smith brings to the position a history of high-level, corporate experience, a commitment to volunteerism and passion for Always Home’s mission, Preventing Family Homelessness. She has been an active member of Always Home’s Board of Directors and Committee Chair for its last four galas, successfully increasing attendance as well as net revenues. “Always Home is fortunate to have a Board member like Betty who cares deeply about the organization and its mission”, states Always Home Board member and Senior Minister of Mystic’s Union Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Lonnie Brown. “She is willing to roll up her sleeves and get the work done.”
